SEA WINGS is the pride and joy of Mr. Robert Masson, of Old Greenwich, CT. The special attention to family desires, and a quest for a yacht with a vivid personality resulted in one of the most beautiful Grand Banks/Eastbay 43 yachts ever built. You will see more photos of the model, and a statement from "Captain Masson" on the brochure at the front of our web page. This model is displayed upon one of our custom made, high gloss bases with colors used that reflect the colors used on the yacht.

Nordhavn 46

A true "passage maker", the Nordhavn 46 was designed for transoceanic voyages...in style. She has proven her worth on numerous ocean crossings, and has successfully circumnavigated the globe. The Nordhavn 46 is just one of four long-range, ocean passage maker yachts designed and built by P.A.E., of Dana Point, California. (At the bottom of this page, you may access the Nordhavn web site)

The Nordhavn 46® model boat is available in 1/12 scale, either fully operational with radio control or display only. The models are built in a manor much like the real yacht, with hand lay-up fiberglass. Your choice of colors, including bottom & boot stripe, as well as name, and port of call. All models include display stand.

Note the glasses on the salon roof...Rum runners of the past never had it this good!

R/C Nordhavn model

Small parts, such as spotlight, horns, plow anchor, and many other items are hand made from brass and aluminum!

Like the full size yacht, this model is rugged enough to explore the far reaches of most lakes and ponds...and make it back to port without having to "refuel". She is powered by a 12v. motor, using a 3:1 ratio. This allows her motor to operate at a good rpm, drawing minimal current, and staying cool. "Fuel" is supplied by a 12V. motorcycle battery and will provide 2 or 3 hours of fun between charges. Just lying at the dock, with her lights on is a sight to behold!

The mast, struts, and boom assembly is made of silver soldered brass, the railings are nickel silver. Windows above are opaque, but available in tinted plex with venetian blinds and curtain details. Real teak trim used throughout.

An outstanding model as display only, or fully operational. All models are completely finished and ready to enjoy. The radio controlled version includes all electronics, electronic speed control, (infinite speed foreword, reverse, & stop) radio receiver, batteries, motor battery, and two channel transmitter. Lighting consists of navigation lights, companion way and aft deck lighting.

If you dream of adventure on the high seas, this model is guaranteed to stir your imagination!...Dock lines are all neatly stowed, her "engine" is purring like a tiger. The forecast is fog, with heavy rain at times, but you're mesmerized by the gentle roll and the aroma of fresh coffee in the galley. Go for it!

We sincerely hope you find our pages interesting and fun. In addition to building fine scale boat models of great yachts, we have also built some test tank hull models for PAE, designers and builders of the world famous Nordhavn "PASSAGEMAKER".

The Nordhavn 57, and Nordhavn 50, test tank hull models were built in our shop, then taken to the B.C. Research Center, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This is one of the largest and finest testing facilities in North America. It is exciting to watch these large models as they are towed at various speeds through the channel, while at the same time, a bank of computers record and evaluate the attitude and reaction of the hull. It is at this point when design and designer are put to the test...a test that was passed with flying colors!

After the testing of the N-57, we made a mold and produced a 7' fiberglass hull, and added a superstructure. This giant model boat was shown at the l995 Annapolis and Miami Yacht Shows, and now occupies a large space in the Dana Point, California headquarters of PAE

Noah's Ark

Using our God given talents to build boats, we recently had an opportunity for a small "payback".

A young fellow by the name of Jeremy Wiles, of McDonald, Tennessee, had a special need for a large model of Noah's Ark for a documentary film he is working on.   We normally build high gloss, fiberglass yachts, but this project called for a totally different approach & construction.  Rough..Tough..& Ready to launch.

Our first objective was the design. Most pictorial images of the ark appear to be more of a fairy tail, and depict it in almost a "cartoon" image with giraffe and elephants with their heads poking out of the windows.  In reality, this would NOT have been the situation.

The ark would have to be a very sturdy vessel, no fine lines or finish. Therefore, we built it to look "hand hewn" and rather bulky. Certainly no streamlining required for basic survival.  Once we arrived at a "logical" design, a large form was constructed with aircraft foam. When shaping was finished, seven layers of 7 oz. fiberglass cloth was applied.

Several hundred feet of very small wood planking was then milled and attached to the fiberglass form.

Final finish was total waterproofing with resin and then airbrushed with a suitable color.

Since there has yet to be an "official" rendering of the original ark, all replications and renderings are speculative, of course, and we are not saying that our conception is anything other than a vessel designed in the "form following function". For more information about the model and the on going search for Noah's Ark, you will find the site below quite interesting.
